Ibiza

In 1993, by way of a fortunate family connection, my husband and I starting renting a very rustic finca on the Mediterranean island of Ibiza.  We started going there for six months a year.

Ibiza introduced me to color.  I painted my first landscape.

Santa Ines, Ibiza

Oil on canvas

In the early 1990’s Santa Ines was a beautiful valley with just a dirt road surrounding it.  One sunny day I took my easel, paints, and canvas for a plein air experience.

What you can see in the distance are flowering almond trees.

Legend has it that a Moorish prince planted the trees for his unhappy Nordic princess bride who was sad because she missed the snow.
